The Chiefs were part of NFL history on Sunday, again. They played in a game that involved the first female official in a regular-season contest.

Sarah Thomas was the line judge for the Chiefs’ 27-20 victory at NRG Stadium. This is the second time she’s worked a Chiefs game. She was also part of the crew for their preseason opener at Arizona, which marked another first for a female official in a NFL game.

Thomas, 42, from Brandon, Miss., was also the first woman to officiate a major college football game when she was hired by Conference USA, and she was the first to work a bowl game when she called the 2009 Little Caesars Bowl. She started working high school games in 1999.
