In his Chiefs debut, Jeremy Maclin caught five passes for 52 yards with a long of 20 on Sunday in a 27-20 victory over the Texans. But he thought he had hauled in a deep ball from Alex Smith along the Chiefs’ sideline in the second half.
Maclin turned to make the catch and appeared to have control of the ball as he tumbled backwards. At that point, it appeared he juggled the ball. Maclin and the Chiefs believed he had a 39-yard reception, but the Texans challenged the play and won.
“I thought if you catch it and go to the ground it’s a different story,” Maclin said. “I think there needs to be seminar on what is and isn’t a catch.”
