In the NFL, coaches certainly aren't afraid to reach for things as motivation. That said, you can bet Indianapolis coach Chuck Pagano will make sure the following tidbit from a recent exchange between himself and a reporter will find a way to his players.
On Thursday, Pagano was told by a reporter that the Chiefs have eight Pro Bowl players, compared to just one for the Colts. He was then asked if he was surprised they only had one (star defensive end Robert Mathis).
“Is that all we had?” Pagano asked.
“Yes,” the reporter replied.
“And how many did they have?” Pagano asked.
“Eight,” the reporter replied.
“That’s awesome,” Pagano said.
So if the Colts beat the Chiefs on Saturday and you hear their players say nobody thought they could do it ― despite the fact they spanked the Chiefs 23-7 two weeks ago ― you'll have a pretty good indication of why they felt that way.
