Cairo Santos had been perfect with his kicks through two preseason games, making both of his field goals and all six extra points. The streak was broken after the Chiefs’ first touchdown.
Santos pulled the extra point leaving the score 6-0. In training camp, Andy Reid said he didn’t think the new extra point rule, with kicks coming from the 32 or 33 yards line, would alter the percentage of success enough for the Chiefs to change their point after strategy.
But that’s what happened. After the Chiefs’ second touchdown, they went for two, and Charcandrick West easily ran it in from the 2.
Last season, Santos made all 38 of his extra points.
