A Chase Daniel drive did not result in a touchdown.
Repeat: A Chase Daniel drive did not result in a touchdown.
It took five possessions over two preseason games, but it finally happened. The Chiefs had to punt at the end of a drive with Daniel leading the second-team offense on Friday night against the Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium.
It happened late in the third quarter with the Chiefs clinging to a 14-13 lead. Daniel picked up a couple of first downs, but the drive stalled and on came the punting unit. On the next possession, there wasn’t even a first down. Gasp.
Earlier in the quarter, Daniel drove the Chiefs 86 yards and capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end James O’Shaughnessy.
That meant Daniel had been on the field for four drives over two games and all four ended in the end zone with a touchdown pass.
On Friday, Daniel finished eight of 12 passing for 82 yards and a touchdown. That makes him 25 of 33 for 271 yards and four TDs in two-plus preseason quarters.
Here are the Chiefs’ scoring drives with Daniel in the game this preseason:

▪ 79 yards, 12 plays, 6:26 13-yard touchdown pass to Fred Williams
▪ 78 yards, 7 plays, 1:08, 14-yard touchdown pass to Frankie Hammond
