Chiefs outside linebacker Dee Ford started over Tamba Hali in Friday’s preseason game against Seattle at Arrowhead Stadium and was making the most of his opportunity. He was credited with three tackles and one solo and was being active. But it appeared his day had come to an end late in the second quarter.

On a third-down play, Ford never saw Seahawks running back Christine Michael coming. Ford was engaged with an offensive lineman when Michael hit Ford and sent him sprawling. He laid on the turf on his stomach, and the initial fear was a head injury. It turned out to be a rib injury.

For had missed practice time at training camp because of a concussion. But Ford soon got up, walked off the field on his own, and was on the bench before halftime.
