Chiefs sign long snapper Thomas Gafford

The Chiefs signed long snapper Thomas Gafford, who had been an unrestricted free agent.

Gafford, 30, has been the snapper for punts and placements for the Chiefs since 2008. Before joining the Chiefs, Gafford has training camp tryouts with Chicago, Green Bay and Seattle.

The Chiefs, in attempting to improve their play in the kicking game, added Dave Toub as special-teams coordinator following the hiring of coach Andy Reid. The Chiefs also re-signed Pro Bowl punter Dustin Colquitt as well as Gafford.
