Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli has recently been offered a two-year contract extension, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
The team does not comment on contract status of off-field personnel, so it's unclear whether there's any truth to the report, which relies on "a league source."
But if it's true, the news comes at an odd time for the Chiefs. Both Pioli and owner Clark Hunt are under tremendous scrutiny for the team's dismal start. Fans have even paid to have a banner flown over Arrowhead Stadium calling for Pioli's job.
