Before the game, Arrowhead Stadium got a tune-up for its try at the Guiness Book stadium noise record when several Royals players were shown on the video board.

The half-full stadium came to life at the sight of Jarrod Dyson, Eric Hosmer, James Shields, Billy Butler, Jeremy Guthrie, Greg Holland and Mike Moustakas.

The Royals, of course, host Oakland in the AL Wild Card Game on Tuesday across the parking lot at Kauffman Stadium.

By earning the Wild Card, the Royals have ended a 29-year postseason drought, which had been the longest among North America’s four major professional sports.
