Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles dresses but doesn’t play against Minnesota in third preseason game

Running back Jamaal Charles dressed for the Chiefs’ third preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium but did not play.

Charles, who missed the second preseason game because of a bruised foot, practiced on Thursday, though most of his snaps came on the scout team.

Safety Eric Berry joined a list of players who also did not play.

Berry, who has been battling a heel injury, has not played at all in the preseason. Neither has defensive linemen Mike DeVito (hand) and Mike Catapano (illness), who also missed the game.

Linebacker Joe Mays (wrist), receiver Dwayne Bowe (quad), receiver Junior Hemingway (hip) were injured in Sunday’s preseason game against Carolina and also did not play.

Linebacker Josh Mauga, running back Charcandrick West, tackle Ryan McKee, cornerback Damond Smith and defensive end Kona Schwenke also sat.
