The three Indianapolis Colts who knocked Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith and running back Spencer Ware out of the game on Sunday — safety Clayton Geathers and linebackers Erik Walden and Edwin Jackson — were not fined for their hits.
Smith and Ware will both miss the Chiefs’ home game Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Smith’s head twice bounced off the Lucas Oil Stadium artificial turf — which outside linebacker Tamba Hali compared to concrete. Smith said he slid too late before the first hit, but Geathers hit Smith’s head with his hand and forearm as he made the tackle.
Ware, meanwhile, absorbed a blow on the tail end of a 23-yard run, when Walden hauled him down from behind and Ware’s head bounced off the turf.
