The Chiefs released outside linebacker Dezman Moses on Saturday to get down to the league-mandated 53-man roster limit prior to their season opener against the San Diego Chargers.
Teams were required to cut their rosters to the limit last Saturday, but the Chiefs were allowed to carry 54 men since then because they were granted a roster exemption for safety Eric Berry. Berry skipped the first month of training camp after the team couldn’t sign him to a long-term contract.
Moses, 27, is listed at 6 feet 2 and 249 pounds. He finished the preseason with six tackles and a forced fumble but was surpassed by sixth-round rookie Dadi Nicolas on the depth chart released by the team earlier this week. Nicolas is coming off an impressive preseason in which he recorded seven tackles and three sacks and was mentioned by coach Andy Reid as someone who could play a limited role this season.
