Chiefs’ Jeremy Maclin doesn’t use numbers to set goals

Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and 85 receptions in each of the past two seasons. Those numbers would seem to be a starting point for goals for this season as Sunday’s opening game against the Chargers approaches.

One problem. Maclin doesn’t set individual goals. Never has.

“That doesn’t matter,” Maclin said. “You’ve got guys who get padded stats because they’re playing catch-up, whether they run the ball more or pass the ball more and they don’t win very much.

“That’s not what I’m into. I’m all about winning football games. And if I’m going to be big part of the offense like I think I will be, that stuff will come.”
