Fans around baseball rip Royals for not inviting Johnny Cueto to White House

Former Royals pitcher Johnny Cueto expressed his disappointment on Saturday that he was not invited to join the team when it visited the White House on Thursday.

“I feel OK, I feel normal,” Cueto told reporters. “But I also feel it’s the organization’s responsibility to invite me. I did a job for them so I feel they should have had the courtesy to invite me.”

Jonny Gomes previously expressed his sadness at not being included on the trip. Gomes wasn’t on the postseason roster, but Cueto won Game 5 of the ALDS and Game 2 of the World Series.

The Royals say they chose players for the visit who attended had been on the team all year, on the postseason roster, and not currently with another team now.

Still, fans from around baseball, many of them Giants supporters, thought the Royals made a big mistake in leaving out Cueto:
