U.S. soccer star Sydney Leroux fires back at critics of her activities while pregnant

The first couple of U.S. soccer, Sydney Leroux and Dom Dwyer, are active people who love to share pictures of their outings on social media.*

*They also like to be silly like showing a picture of Dwyer wearing makeup after England (where he was born) lost to Iceland in the European Championships

Leroux, the U.S. national team star who got pregnant not long after being acquired by FC Kansas City in a trade, and Dwyer, who plays for Sporting Kansas City, were recently on a lake. Leroux’s due date is in September, and it troubled some people when she shared this photo on Tuesday:

Beautiful day on the lake! ☀️

That’s a happy photo, right?

Well, some people left comments and took it upon themselves to question Leroux’s wisdom for tubing on the lake. Here are some of the tamer comments:

Leroux respond to the ugliness that was directed at her (and you can see there were some awful, awful things written):

“It’s unfortunate that I have to say something but after a number of comments like: ‘you’re going to give birth to a dead fetus’ or ‘you just killed your baby’ I have to remind you that this is MY body. MY body is the body that is creating life. MY body is the one that has stretch marks and cellulite and varicose veins and sore hips and back pain that runs down my legs. MY body is the body that is tired and sore and emotional and the happiest it’s ever been. So if I want to jump in a pool, go on a tube and slowly ride around with my husband, dance like an idiot or work out I am absolutely going to. Leave your awful comments to yourself and let me enjoy MYSELF and MY body the way I want to.”
