It’s awards week for Major League Baseball, and it saves the best for last.
The MVP winners will be announced Thursday, and Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain is one of three finalists.
Bleacher Report predicted Cain would finish a distant third behind Toronto’s Josh Donaldson and the Angels’ Mike Trout. USA Today’s writers voted and Donaldson won that, too, beating out Trout and Baltimore third baseman Manny Machado. Cain was fourth.
The Washington Post broke down the race for the 2016 AL MVP award. Again, it would be a tight Trout/Donaldson race with Houston’s rookie of the year Carlos Correa in the running. Again, Cain wasn’t part of the discussion.
