Many fans are ready to elevate Chase Daniel over Alex Smith as Chiefs’ starting quarterback

If it’s August, then NFL fans must be enamored with the backup quarterback.

Happens all the time in the preseason. Fans love what they see from the second-string quarterback (or even third-string), particularly when the starter doesn’t play as well as fans would like.

Case in point: Chiefs fans were vocal about their desire to see Chase Daniel become the starter over Alex Smith, who threw a touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin ... and one to a Seattle player (it was a pick-six).
