For Pete's Sake

KU did something unseen in college basketball in 40 years with win over Arizona

There was no shortage of drama Monday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Kansas men’s basketball team rallied to beat the nation’s No. 1 squad 82-78, handing Arizona its first loss of the season. And KU did it without star Darryn Peterson.

Arizona entered the game with a 23-0 record, and KU’s victory gave the Jayhawks a unique piece of history. Kansas had defeated Iowa State last month, dropping the Cyclones to 15-1.

Opta Stats said the Jayhawks are the first Division I program in 40 years to defeat two teams that had a record of 15-0 or better in the same season.

But that’s not the only crazy stat about the Jayhawks.

X user Jared Berson noted Kansas is the first team to win 10 straight home games against teams ranked in the top 3 in the AP Poll.

Here’s one other bonkers note, via CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein: Kansas has a 40-0 record at Allen Fieldhouse on ESPN’s Big Monday under coach Bill Self.
