For Pete's Sake

Nebraska fan is asking city of Omaha to approve plan for 125-foot flag pole

You might say this is a pie-in-the-sky idea.

Nebraska Cornhuskers fan Dave Paladino has asked the city of Omaha to allow him to build a 125-foot flag pole at his self-storage company, according to the Omaha World-Herald. Paladino sent a letter to the city asking for an exemption to the zoning, which only allows flag poles to be 75 feet tall.

The World-Herald reported that Paladino wrote a letter saying the pole "will ONLY be used for flying the US Flag and possibly the 'N' Nebraska flag on Cornhusker game days."

That's one way to support the team.

Paladino doesn't believe the planning board will approve his request but decided to try his luck.

"What the heck," Paladino told the World-Herald. "It's worth a try."
