The last time Greg Holland appeared in a game at Kauffman Stadium was Sept. 9, 2015.
About two weeks later, Holland required Tommy John surgery, which ended his season. However, he was able to support his teammates in the dugout and clubhouse throughout a playoff run that ended with a World Series title.
Holland missed 2016 while he getting back into baseball shape after the surgery, and he signed with the Rockies after the season.
On Tuesday, Holland returned to Kauffman Stadium with Colorado, which opened a three-game series with the Royals.
The Royals had a nice tribute to Holland on the Crown Vision board, and the Kauffman Stadium crowd gave him a long ovation.
The Rockies were impressed and tweeted video of the love that Kansas City fans showered on Holland, and Colorado even gave a hat tip to the Royals with the hashtag #RaisedRoyal.
