Royals fans got the news shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday: All-Star catcher Salvador Perez had been activated from the disabled list.
Perez, who had been on the disabled list since Aug. 6 because of a strained intercostal muscle, was in the starting lineup for Tuesday night’s game against the Rockies.
In Perez’s absence, the Royals were 6-9 and dropped in the wild-card standings.
Royals fans were fired up by the news of Perez’s return and many went to social media to celebrate.
