For Pete's Sake

Here’s proof there are no hard feelings between Alex Gordon and Jason Vargas

A week ago, I wrote something about how Royals left fielder Alex Gordon had pulled a prank on Jason Vargas in the dugout.

Gordon had hit a home run and was going down a high-five line when he snubbed Vargas. The reaction from Vargas was priceless. It seemed pretty obvious to me that it was a joke.

Still, quite a few Royals fans were concerned that something was amiss in the clubhouse. Instead of embedding a bunch of those tweets, here is just one example:

There wasn’t a problem, of course. And we saw that on Friday night when the Royals made a thrilling ninth-inning comeback and beat the Blue Jays 5-4.

Gordon had a clutch RBI single in the inning and scored the game-winning run when Whit Merrifield hit a two-run double.

Check out this video with Denny Matthews’ call, particularly at the 58 second mark. Yep, that’s Gordon and Vargas arm in arm.

See, there was never a reason to worry.
