For Pete's Sake

If you decided that sleep was more important than overtime of the Cardinals-Seahawks game on Sunday night, then you chose wisely.

The game ended in a 6-6 tie after both teams missed short field goals in the extra period that would have won the game. To be fair, both kickers also made field goals in overtime.

But the misses stand out.

Arizona’s Chandler Catanzaro’s 24-yard attempt hit the upright and the Cardinals missed the chance at a win. Then Stephen Hauschka’s 27-yard attempt was hooked and, well, Al Michaels couldn’t believe it.

Here are both misses and Michaels’ call. The shot on the Seahawks sideline was also funny to see, because it was stunned disbelief:

Yeah, that is impossible. It was, as Frank Costanza once intoned, a one-in-a-million shot.

“I make that kick 999,999 times out of a million,” Catanzaro told reporters after the game.
