Missouri junior diver Clark Thomas qualified for next month’s USA Diving national championships with a first-place performance in the three-meter springboard Saturday at the Zone C championships in Dallas.

Thomas, an Olathe Northwest graduate, topped a field of 14 divers with a final score of 404.75. He was in sixth place with one dive remaining before scoring 73.1 points on the last dive to vault into first.

On Friday, Thomas placed sixth in the one-meter springboard and Sunday he snagged third in the men’s platform at the meet.

Thomas will compete in all three events at the national championships Aug. 12-17 at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Konxville, Tenn.

He’ll be joined at national by fellow Tigers junior Lauren Reedy.

On Friday, Reedy also won the three-meter springboard at the Zone C championships.

She placed third Saturday in the one-meter springboard and will compete in both events in Konxville next month.

Reedy also won the women’s synchronized three-meter springboard partnered with Texas junior diver, Meghan Houston, and will vie for a national title in the event.
