Five of the 68 teams that will be in the NCAA Tournament have already been identified.

The names are anything but illustrious: UNC Asheville, Austin Peay, Florida Gulf Coast, Yale and Northern Iowa. The Panthers are probably the best known.

But two of the teams (Austin Peay and Florida Gulf Coast) have local ties.

Florida Gulf Coast is coached by Joe Dooley, who is a former Bill Self assistant. Dooley was with the Jayhawks from 2003-2013.

Austin Peay is coached by Dave Loos, the father of Missouri assistant coach Brad Loos.

Brad Loos’ 5-year-old daughter, Rhyan, was diagnosed in October with stage-4 neuroblastoma, and she had surgery last week. According to the family’s Facebook page, the tumor was successfully removed.

Missouri had a “Rally for Rhyan Game,” last month and school officials said more than $50,000 had been raised to help the family.

Dave Loos talked about Rhyan on ESPN after winning an Ohio Valley Conference game.
