Missouri baseball picked fifth in SEC Eastern Division

Missouri had two players on the coaches’ preseason All-Southeastern Conference team, which was announced Thursday by the conference.

Tigers shortstop Ryan Howard was a first-team pick and right-hander Tanner Houck was a second-team selection at starting pitcher.

Florida was picked to win the SEC baseball championship.

The Gators also are predicted to win the Eastern Division, which includes Missouri.

The Tigers were picked fifth and checked in behind Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Kentucky but ahead of Georgia and Tennessee.

Texas A&M was picked to win the Western Division ahead of LSU.

LSU sophomore Alex Lange, a Lee’s Summit West graduate, was a first-team pick at starting pitcher.

Missouri is receiving votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and USA Today Coaches’ polls.
