• MidAmerica Nazarene needs three victories today in Montgomery, Ala., to advance to the NAIA World Series. The Pioneers face LSU Shreveport at 11 a.m. in the consolation bracket championship of their opening-round double-elimination regional. The winner advances to play top seed and host Faulkner (Ala.), which is undefeated in the regional.
The Southwest Baptist women and the Northwest Missouri State men won Sweet 16 matches at the Division II tournament in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
Southwest Baptist beat Concordia (N.Y.) 5-4. It was tied going into the No. 1 singles match, and Fanni Varga beat Costanza Mecchi 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4.
Northwest Missouri downed Northwood (Mich.) 5-2.
The MidAmerica Nazarene softball team was eliminated in the opening round of the NAIA tournament with a 6-0 loss to top-seeded Spring Hill (Ala.) on Tuesday.
