Rockhurst’s longest run in the NCAA Division II men’s soccer championship came to an end Thursday in the national semifinals at Evans, Ga.
The Hawks lost 2-1 to Southern New Hampshire. Rockhurst fell behind 2-0 after 41 minutes but got back into the game less than 60 seconds later when Paolo Scoppola scored. But the Hawks, who finished the season 17-4-3, could get no closer.Central Missouri advances in Division II volleyball
Central Missouri, seeded second in its regional, came from two sets down and beat No. 7 seed Nebraska-Kearney 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-11 in a first-round NCAA Division II Tournament match Thursday in Duluth, Minn.
The Jennies will play third-seeded Concordia-St. Paul at 5 p.m. Friday for a spot in the Central Regional final.
Also in Duluth, No. 4 seed Washburn lost 27-25, 18-25, 27-25, 15-25, 15-11 to No. 5 Southwest Minnesota State.
Truman State lost 19-25, 25-17, 27-25, 26-24 to top-seeded Grand Valley State in the Midwest Regional in Allendale, Mich.
• MidAmerica Nazarene was eliminated from the NAIA Tournament with a 20-25, 27-25, 25-22, 29-27 loss to Madonna, Mich., on Thursday in the Pioneers’ final pool play match in Sioux City, Iowa.

The NAIA announced an agreement on Thursday to air five of its championship events on ESPN3, ESPN’s live-streaming, multi-event online service, starting with the Dec. 21 football championship in Rome, Ga.
The other championships to air on ESPN3, as well as WatchESPN.com and the WatchESPN app, will be the Division I men’s and women’s basketball and Division II men’s and women’s basketball finals. • Northwest Missouri lineman Matt Longacre was chosen defensive player of the year on the All-Super Region III team selected by Daktronics. • The University of California has agreed to a nearly $18 million, 15-year deal with Internet video game maker Kabam for the naming rights to the field at Memorial Stadium, which the school will now call “Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium.”
