• MidAmerica Nazarene, Missouri Valley and Benedictine were eliminated in the NAIA men’s soccer round of 16 on Tuesday in Montgomery, Ala.
MidAmerica, seeded ninth, lost 2-1 to No. 8 Belhaven (Miss.); Missouri Valley, seeded 10th, lost 3-2 to No. 7 Hastings (Neb.); and No. 6 Benedictine lost to No. 11 Auburn-Montgomery 5-4 on penalty kicks after playing to a 2-2 draw after two overtimes.

• The NAIA volleyball tournament opened Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa, with the first of three days of pool play to determine the final 12 teams. The top two teams in each four-team pool advance.
In Pool A, Columbia beat Westmont (Calif.) 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 25-16, but Park and MidAmerica lost their matches. The Pirates fell 25-19, 25-22, 10-25, 22-25, 15-10 to Georgetown (Ky.) in Pool B and the Pioneers lost 25-18, 20-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-9 to The Master’s (Calif.) in Pool D.
• Central Missouri sophomore libero Annie Reilly, a St. James Academy grad from Overland Park, was chosen to the Division II all-Central Region volleyball first team announced Tuesday. Jennies senior setter Julia Bates, a Lansing High grad from Leavenworth, was chosen to the second team.
• The NCAA Division II volleyball tournament starts Thursday. Central Missouri is seeded second in the Central Regional and plays No. 7 seed Nebraska-Kearney in the first round in Duluth, Minn., where No. 4 seed Washburn plays No. 5 seed Southwest Minnesota State. In the Midwest Regional in Allendale, Mich., eighth-seeded Truman State plays top seed Grand Valley State.
