Will it be a trick or a treat for Frank Haith and the Missouri men’s basketball team? The Tigers will find out Thursday whether Devin Booker, a Moss Point (Miss.) shooting guard and one of the most sought-after high school recruits in the nation, is Columbia bound.Booker — whose father, Melvin, was a star at Missouri during 1991-94 and remains the program’s seventh leading scorer all-time — announced Tuesday evening on Twitter that he would announce his decision on Halloween.
I will be announcing my college decision on Thursday, October 31st at 3pm in Moss Point High gymnasium.— Devin Booker (@DevinBook) October 29, 2013
Booker is a four-star recruit and ranked 30th in the nation in the Class of 2014 by Rivals.com. He is Missouri’s top target for that recruiting class.ESPN has Booker, who averaged 29.7 points as a junior and was the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year, as the 18th best prospect in his class. He took his official visit to Missouri two weeks ago and returned with his father last Friday for “The Return to Hearnes,” which honored the Tigers’ 1993-94 team that went undefeated in Big Eight play.Booker also took official visits to Kentucky, Michigan and Michigan State. He also is reportedly considering Florida, but Missouri, Kentucky and Michigan are believed to be the leading contenders to land the 6-foot-6 scoring machine.Booker lived with his mother in Grand Rapids, Mich., before moving to Mississippi to live with his father before his sophomore year. The NCAA’s early signing period officially begins Nov. 13.
