Fort Hays picked over Northwest Missouri in preseason MIAA basketball polls

Fort Hays State was picked over Northwest Missouri State to win the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in men’s basketball by the league’s coaches and media.

The Tigers, who tied for the regular-season title with Central Missouri last season, were first in the coaches’ poll despite receiving one fewer first-place vote than the Bearcats, who reached the tournament championship game. Fort Hays got four more first-place votes in the media poll. The Mules, who beat Northwest for last season’s tournament championship, were third in both polls.
