MU's Pinkel: there will be no staff changes in offseason

Despite his team's struggles this season, Missouri coach

Gary Pinkel

said Wednesday that he doesn't plan on making any changes to his staff this offseason.

Pinkel, who has largely managed to avoid staff turnover during his 12-year tenure at Missouri, asked about the possibility during the weekly SEC coaches conference call.

"No, no," Pinkel said firmly. "There will be no staff changes."

Barring an upset win over Texas A&M on Saturday, the Tigers will finish a 5-7 record, their worst mark since 2002.

James Franklin

will be a game-time decision on Saturday, Pinkel said. Franklin, who suffered a concussion in MU's 31-27 loss to Syracuse last Saturday, threw a little bit on Tuesday but will ultimately have to be cleared by the medical staff to play.

“We’ll see what happens," Pinkel said. "Otherwise, Corbin Berkstresser will be our starter.”

Berkstresser, who has made three starts this season, has completed 68 of 139 passes (48.9 percent) for 783 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.
