Ohio State ranked first in Football Writers’ Super 16 preseason poll

Ohio State topped another preseason college football poll.

The Football Writers Assocation of America-National Football Foundation Super 16 poll has Ohio State ranked first, with the Buckeyes receiving 638 points and 38 of the 40 first-place votes. TCU was second (579 points, one first-place vote) and Alabama third (517 points, one first-place vote). Baylor (471) was fourth and Oregon (433) fifth.

Missouri didn’t crack the rankings, but did receive multiple votes.

Aaron Brenner of the Charleston Post & Courier had Missouri ranked No. 11. Bob Epling a NFF board member ranked the Tigers at No. 13. Mike Griffith of MLive.com had MU ranked 14th, as did Matthew Murschel of the Orlando Sentinel.

Rounding out the top 10: Michigan State, Auburn, Florida State, Georia and Southern Cal.

Notre Dame was ranked 11th, followed by Clemson, LSU, UCLA, Mississippi and Arizona State.
