LAWRENCE — Kansas freshman forward Zach Peters will miss a month of practice with a non-surgical injury in his left shoulder, KU coach Bill Self announced Thursday. The injury had been nagging Peters for some time, Self added, and the decision was made to allow him time to fully heal.
"We are hopeful that he'll be back on the practice court sooner rather than later," Self said. "Zach will still be participating in other team activities.
"It's been a nagging injury that has been bothering him over time that has affected his ability to play on the court. We feel he should make a full recovery with time and rehab."
Peters, a native of Plano, Texas, was expected to be in the mix for frontcourt minutes alongside starting center Jeff Withey. The Jayhawks also have senior forward Kevin Young, junior Justin Wesley, fellow freshman Perry Ellis and Landen Lucas and redshirt freshman Jamari Traylor as options in the frontcourt.
