The Champions Bowl will match the Big 12 and SEC champions when they’re not part of the new college football playoff starting in 2014. Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said bids for the new game were due on Wednesday and five were submitted. Bowlsby didn’t name them but some cities, like Atlanta and Houston, have announced their bid.
The others are believed to be New Orleans, Dallas (Arlington, Tex) and San Antonio.
"It's going to take us a little while to go through those and go back to the organizations and ask questions," Bowlsby said. "I'm going to guess two or three weeks we're going to be in a good position to know where we are with TV and we're it's going to reside."
