Kansas football gets verbal commitment from three-star Houston linebacker Maciah Long

Kansas football coach David Beaty landed one of his biggest recruiting coups to date on Saturday, picking up a commitment from three-star linebacker Maciah Long of Houston.

Long, who will be a senior at North Shore High School in Houston, had offers from Arizona State, UCLA, Ohio State and Missouri, among others. He verbally committed to Kansas while on campus for a weekend visit.

Listed at 6 feet 3 and 234 pounds, Long is rated as the 93rd best prospect in Texas and the 30th best inside linebacker in the country, according to Long is the 10th known commitment in the Jayhawks' 2016 recruiting class.
