Kansas coach Charlie Weis has added another quarterback to his 2013 recruiting class. And he didn’t have to go far to find him.
Jordan Darling, a senior quarterback at Shawnee Mission East, has committed to KU, according to Rivals.com. Darling, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound transfer from Midway High School in Waco, Texas, also had an offer from Kansas State. KU assistant Ron Powlus, a former quarterback at Notre Dame, had been active in Darling’s recruitment, according to Rivals.
Darling figures to be one of the top signal-callers in the metro this fall. But he may have some competition from another KU commitment. Bishop Miege senior quarterback Montell Cozart previously committed to the Jayhawks earlier this spring.
The Jayhawks currently have two other commitments in their 2013 class: Ben Johnson, a three-star tight end from Basehor-Linwood High School, and Kellen Ash, a three-star linebacker from Parkway South High School in the St. Louis area.
