North Dakota State picked to win Missouri Valley Conference

Northern Iowa senior defensive back Deiondre’ Hall of Blue Springs and Panthers junior linebacker Brett McMakin, who played at Blue Valley West, were named to the media’s preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference football team.

Missouri State placed one player on the team, senior center Robert Booker.

North Dakota State, the four-time defending Football Championship Series national champ, was the choice in the preseason poll, followed by Illinois State.

Youngstown State, under former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini, was picked fourth. The Bears were picked to finish ninth under Dave Steckel, the first-year coach who previously had served as Missouri’s defensive coordinator.
