UMKC’s Courtney Frerichs, who finished second earlier this month in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, will compete Thursday in the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Frerichs will take part in the semifinals at 9:05 p.m. If she advances to the finals, that race is Saturday at 3:55 p.m. Thursday’s race will be streamed at USATF.tv. Saturday’s finals will be shown on NBC.
Frerichs has the fourth-fastest steeplechase time this year and is seeded sixth. At the NCAA meet, Frerichs set a personal best time of 9:31.36, which is the fourth-fastest in the NCAA all-time, and currently 13th in the world this year among all runners.
Frerichs will be looking to earn a spot on the United States team that will compete at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China in August. To make the team, Frerichs must finish in the top three.
