A pair of top Mexican soccer clubs will cycle through Kansas City as they prepare for their upcoming Liga MX seasons.
C.F. Pachuca and Santos Laguna will meet June 21 at Children’s Mercy Park as part of their preseason schedules, they announced Thursday. Tickets for the match will be available at 10 a.m. Tuesday for Sporting KC season ticket members and on May 13 for the general public.
Pachuca has won five national championships in Mexico’s top league and four CONCACAF Champions League titles. Its current roster features U.S. national team defender Omar Gonzalez, who won three MLS Cups with the LA Galaxy before making the move to Pachuca in December. Mexican internationals Rodolfo Pizarro, Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutierre are also on the team.
Santos Laguna has also won five national championships, and it has five players who have appeared for the Mexican national team — Adrian Aldrete, Nestor Araujo, Nestor Calderon, Jesus Molina and Javier Orozco.
