Sporting Kansas City won't have to wait long for the chance to avenge last season's knockout-round playoff exit.
The club will open the 2015 season on March 8 with a home game against the New York Red Bulls, who bounced Sporting KC from the 2014 postseason.
The match will be nationally televised on Fox Sports 1, and it will feature the top two goal scorers from the 2014 season. New York forward Bradley Wright-Phillips tied the MLS record with 27 goals. Sporting KC forward Dom Dwyer set a franchise record with 22 goals.
Sporting KC is winless in its past five meetings with the Red Bulls.
