Dwyer, 22, started the year with the Lions and scored a league-record 15 goals in 13 games. He scored 18 goals in all competitions before returning to Sporting KC in late June.
Dwyer, who made his first MLS start and recorded his first career assist in a 2-1 win against the Colorado Rapids last weekend, was selected Tuesday to the All-USL Pro first team and is the league’s co-winner of the Golden Boot Award.
“Obviously, we are delighted to have him back,” Orlando City coachAdrian Heath
said. “He’s a great guy and did a fantastic job for us on the football field. It’s a great gesture from Sporting KC to release him for the final, and we hope he can produce the same goal-scoring efforts like he usually does on Saturday.”
The match will be streamed live at USLnation.com. All three Sporting KC players will return to the club after the match.
