Matt Besler suffered a right thigh contusion during the United States men’s national team draw against Honduras on Tuesday, according to a team spokesman.
Besler is day-to-day with the injury, and he is questionable to play in Sporting Kansas City’s match Saturday in Philadelphia.
He was removed from Tuesday’s match in the 64th minute and seemed to be favoring his right leg. He was evaluated by Sporting KC team doctors Wednesday.
The U.S. held a 1-0 lead when Besler departed midway through the second half, but Honduran defender Maynor Figueroa tied the match in the 86th minute.
Besler is already dealing with a broken bone in his left hand, an injury he suffered last month that requires him to play with a soft cast on his hand.
He suffered a hamstring injury in June while playing with the national team in the World Cup, but he returned one game later.
Sporting KC has played the past three games without Aurelien Collin, Besler’s partner in the middle of the defense. Collin has been dealing with an ankle injury.
