FC Kansas City put on an offensive display Sunday night at Swope Soccer Village.
Shea Groom had two goals and an assist, and Lo’eau LaBonta and Sydney Leroux both scored a goal in FC Kansas City’s 4-1 win over Sky Blue FC.
Goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart played in her 100th regular-season NWSL match for FCKC, 7-9-5. She made five saves in the game.
FCKC struck first on LaBonta’s goal in the 39th minute off an assist by Groom. LaBonta has scored in two consecutive games.
Groom gave the Blues a 2-0 lead when she scored in the 44th minute on an assist by LaBonta. Groom also scored in the 64th minute when she put in a rebound after her initial shot was blocked by Sky Blue FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.
Sky Blue FC, 9-10-2, finally got on the board on second-half substitute Madison Tiernan’s goal in the 83rd minute.
Leroux scored FCKC’s final goal in the closing minutes of stoppage time on an assist by Maegan Kelly.
