FC Kansas City’s hot streak continued Sunday with a 3-1 win over the Chicago Red Stars in Bridgeview, Ill. The victory was the Blues’ third in a row.
Sydney Leroux, Katie Bowen and Maegan Kelly all scored for FCKC (6-8-5) in front of 3,314 fans at Toyota Park. Shea Groom assisted on the goals by Leroux and Bowen, which came 6 minutes apart in the first half.
Julie Ertz scored the lone goal for the Red Stars (8-6-5).
Chicago trailed 2-0 in the 44th minute when it received a penalty kick after Groom got a yellow card for dangerous play. But FCKC goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart dived to her right and made a save on Christen Press for her first NWSL penalty-kick save.
