St. James volleyball player wins national honor

St. James Academy senior Audriana Fitzmorris was chosen the American Family Insurance All-USA Girls Volleyball Player of the Year by USA Today High School Sports.

Fitzmorris, a 6-foot-6 middle blocker, led the Thunder to the Kansas Class 5A state championship with a 46-1 record. She recorded 603 kills and 249 digs and is ranked No. 2 in the country, according to PrepVolleyball.com. She is also a two-time world champion with the U.S. Women’s Junior National team.

She and teammate Jenna Gray signed with Stanford this fall.

In her four seasons at St. James, the Thunder won three state titles and finished second in 2014. Its final record was 172-12.
