Mill Valley cruised to a 7-4 win over Goddard in the Kansas Class 5 high school softball quarterfinals on Thursday.
Goddard committed three errors in the game at Maize High near Wichita. Mill Valley (19-4) advances to a semifinal game Friday against unbeaten Shawnee Heights (23-0) of Tecumseh, a 13-3 winner over Maize South (13-10).
Also on Thursday, Topeka-Seamen (19-3) topped St. Thomas Aquinas (15-7) 12-2 in six innings, and Wichita's Bishop Carroll (21-2) beat Goddard-Eisenhower (14-8) 16-2.
At Lawrence-Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Lawrence Free State handed Blue Valley (21-2) just its second loss of the season.
Free State (16-7) advanced with a 2-1 victory.
In other quarterfinals Thursday, Olathe South fell to Topeka's Washburn Rural 3-2, and Olathe Northwest got by Derby 6-4.
Olathe North (20-2) was set to play Dodge City (17-5) and the remaining quarterfinal.
The Class 4A-DI tourney in Emporia was postponed until 9 a.m. Friday morning due to weather concerns.
Tonganoxie, Piper and Paola are among the quarterfinalists. Semifinals will be played Friday afternoon and the championship game has been pushed back until Saturday.
Baldwin advanced to the semifinals in Salina by beating Burlington 12-7 in eight innings. Baldwin (16-7) will next face undefeated Girard (23-0).
