Area swimming notebook

* Campus has a good group of freshmen to go along with senior Mitch Whitmer (state-placed in backstroke) and junior Blaine Stewart.

* Collegiate enters the season led by state-placed Sam Horner and Rhys Powell.

* El Dorado senior Derek McAdoo leads an , inexperienced team this year. Last season McAdoo was a state qualifier in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke.

* Independent seniors Colin McMaster, Phillip Zimmerman and junior Ahmad Yassine all qualified for state last year.

* Maize South has returning state qualifiers junior Chance Dickinson (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) and sophomore Greyson Heckman (200 IM, 100 butterfly).

* Newton is coming off a third place finish in 5-1A. Juniors Matt Scheuermann and Cameron Spreier, who were qualifiers in multiple events, lead the Railers.

* Team captain Josh Van Bebber is back for Trinity Academy in the distance freestyle. Sophomores Ben Johnson and Cody Biettgenbach could give the team a lift.

* Winfield school record holder sophomore Keiser Witte returns after placing fourth in the 5-1A meet in both the 100 and 200 freestyles.
