In the span of a week in late September, Blue Springs senior golfer Mady Acers added both conference and district championships to her resume.
A week later, the hot streak continued.
Acers claimed a share of the Missouri Class 2, Sectional 4 girls golf title Monday at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville, splitting the honors with Kearney senior Anna Zech. Both carded 7-over 79s at the sectional event, which also serves as the state qualifier.
Liberty and Blue Springs qualified their full teams for the state tournament next weekend. Liberty posted a score of 352 in winning the sectional tournament, and Blue Springs followed with a 358.
Brianna Walker led Liberty with an 81, good for a fifth-place tie with Lee’s Summit golfer Skylar Brunk.
Liberty North’s Layke Graybill and Lee’s Summit West’s McKenna Rice tied for third.
▪ In the Missouri Class 1, Sectional 4 tournament, Pembroke Hill junior India Gaume shot 7 over on the same course to win the event and lead the Raiders to the team crown. Teammate Shannon Fang was second with an 82.
Smithville placed second in the team standings to also qualify its full squad for next week’s state tournament, with Savannah Oesterle placing third on the individual leader board.
Barstow’s Olivia Laub was fourth.
