It’s the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams. UMKC (5-12) is coming off a 61-49 home loss to USC Upstate, the Kangaroos’ lowest output of the season. UMKC is bidding to win its league opener for the second straight year, but this is a tough task. New Mexico State is the defending tournament champion and preseason favorite to win the WAC. UMKC’s Martez Harrison leads the league in steals at 2.1 per game and is second in scoring (18.0) and assists (4.1). The teams split last season’s series. Aggies forward Remi Barry leads his team in scoring with a 13.9 average.
